Popcorn

IMG_9223.JPG

When a party goes to late or you are gathered around the television watching a movie, there is something nostalgic and enjoyable about some freshly made popcorn.  We have a few additions to the traditional way to pop the corn that evenly spreads the flavors.

Our version of kettle corn is a huge crowd pleaser.  I use a medium-sized dutch oven and cook on high heat…you have to shake it a lot and keep a constant eye until fully popped.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup of Old Bay seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 1/2 cups of popcorn

Making It

  • Put a medium-sized dutch oven and on medium-high heat, melt the butter and vegetable oil together, when butter is melted add all the ingredients and cover.  Cook until popped and shake the pot as it pops.  When done remove from heat and put in a bowl,  mix with a cup of freshly-grated parmesan cheese, salt to taste and serve

Somedays it is just better to sit at home and munch on some popcorn and watch TV.
