Strawberry Watermelon Vodka

We always like to have a specialty drink for each gathering and in the summertime it will always be a frozen concoction–especially when its a daytime party.  I like the lite taste of watermelon, strawberries and fresh mint mixed together that supposidely makes for a great alcohol free drink.  But we always add vodka and triple sec for that summertime kick.  These frozen treats look and taste innocent enough but can sneak up on people.  This can lead to what we call an Uber Dive which comes from a time when our friend Reid was well into the celebration and was taking some aggressive dives into the pool.  Seeing possible danger ahead, we called an Uber and saw that he got home safe and sound.

Ingredients

  • Fresh mint
  • Vodka
  • Triple sec
  • Sugar
  • Watermelon, rhine removed and seeded
  • Strawberries
  • Ice

Making It

  • Put an equal amount of strawberry and watermelon in a food processor fitted with the steel blade and blend thoroughly.  Put in a strainer and capture all of the juice and discard the solids.
  • Put 10 mint leaves, 1 cup of vodka, two tablespoons of triple sec, 1 tablespoon of sugar, two cups of the fruit juice.  Then add the ice until it reaches the top of the liquid mix.  Blend again and serve with a strawberry, mint leaf and a straw
