Crostini

Easy and simple, do not get store-bought as they are dry, old and tired.  I think for just about every meal we prepare at least one batch of crostini toasts.

Ingredients

  • 1crusty baguette from your bakery
  • Olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly cracked pepper
  • 1 to 2 peeled garlic cloves with 1/3 sliced off the top

Making it

  • Set over to 400 degrees
  • Slice the baguette in 1/4 inch pieces and lay out on a baking sheet
  • Liberally brush with olive oil then sprinkle the kosher salt and pepper, put in over for 11 minutes on the top wrack
  • Let cool and rub each slice once with the clove of garlic

Crostini toasts are great with just about everying including Vongole, a favoite italian pasta dish with garlic and clams.
